Presbytery of Lanka Annual Meeting

The Annual meeting of Presbytery of Lanka was held on the Saturday 28, 2017 at Presbyterian Church, Scots Kirk, Kandy. Revd. Ravin Caldera represented Living Christ Church on an invitation and had a fruitful time of deliberations and reporting on the church ministry for the Second-semester Session of  March to September.

The Moderator Revd. Saman Perera led devotions and reminded us at the presbytery that we are celebrating the Reformation Sunday on the following day, where the core solas (Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, Soli Deo Gloria) are commemorated and uphold as a reformed tradition. He further stated that calling and election of Abram can be demonstrated only by the election of sola gratia and this paradigm can be applied to us as a church and our ministry.

The visit to the Presbyterian Center for Discipleship and Mission at Augusta Watta, Hirassagala was a memorable journey. The physical buildings are completed. At the moment the centre needs furnishing and equipment.  We would like to earnestly urge your prayers in the completion of this project.

There were twelve commissioned elders present at the presbytery from different Presbyterian churches in Sri Lanka. There were elders from Scots Kirk, Galleface, Scots Kirk, Kandy, Presbyterian Church, Colombo and Korean Church of Lanka. This was a great opportunity to learn from and interact with the experienced leaders from the Sri Lankan Presbyterian tradition. We as a church thankful for the openness, guidance and the fellowship given to us as the young church of the like-minded friends and Presbyterians working for the glory of God in this Island.

Soli Deo Gloria!
